Longbridge

Richard - Longbridge

The constituency of Birmingham, Northfield is most recognisable for those outside of Birmingham when the name of Longbridge is mentioned. The car factory at Longbridge, which first produced Austin vehicles in 1906 closed in April 2005 when the MG Rover car company went into administration. The articles on the pages in this section detail Richard’s activities pressing for the regeneration of the site and also contain other statements from the time the company was in difficulty and immediately afterwards. The car company Nanjing Automotive now rent part of the site and hope to produce MGs again at Longbridge in the future.
