Switch on to climate change by switching off for Earth Hour -
This Saturday I will be joining millions of people in more than 91 countries and across 25 time zones in switching off their lights for Earth Hour.
From the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco to Big Ben to our own living rooms, for one hour we can all make a visual statement that we support ambitious international action to tackle climate change.
Earth Hour is a global initiative organised by the environmental organisation WWF.
The campaign calls on individuals, businesses, iconic landmarks and local authorities to switch off their lights for one hour between 8.30 and 9.30pm on Saturday 27 March 2010 to show they care about people and wildlife threatened by climate change.
I joined WWF campaigners in Parliament to give my support for the campaign and to pledge to switch off his lights for Earth Hour (photograph right).
I have also signed a parliamentary motion supporting Earth Hour and congratulating those individuals, organisations, businesses and local authorities which have pledged to take part.
