Northfield ICE Youth Gym (28 April 2009)

Yesterday I attended the official opening of Northfield’s new ICE Youth Gym.

The ICE Gym - based at the Northfield Pool and Fitness Centre - is designed for young people aged between 8 and 16. The gym was funded by South Birmingham PCT and has a number of cardiovascular and resistance workstations, plasma TVs and the City’s first Motivatrix (similar to a giant Wii game).

I was really pleased to hear that since the beginning of April over 130 children across Northfield have signed up for membership of the ICE gym. Getting into the habit of keeping fit when you are younger is a really important and I hope that this facility will be well used.
