Richard Burden commemorates Holocaust Memorial Day
Last week Richard Burden MP attended a Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration held by the Holocaust Educational Trust in the Houses of Parliament.
At the commemoration Richard signed a Book of Commitment to honour those killed in the Holocaust and the individuals that risked their lives to help those being persecuted.
Richard has also signed Early Day Motion 648 on Holocaust Memorial Day 2008 – click here to see the EDM.
The Book of Commitment has been placed in the House of Commons for Members of Parliament nationwide to sign and pledge their support for the annual day of remembrance on Sunday 27th January.
January 27th marks the anniversary of the liberation in 1945 of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the infamous concentration and extermination camp. It is the eighth year that the anniversary has been officially commemorated in the UK.
Richard plans to visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp with local sixth form students later this year.
