On 25th September Richard joined blind marathon runner and charity fundraiser David Heely at the opening of Pocklington Place in Northfield.
Pocklington Place is Birmingham's first extra care sheltered housing scheme for people with sight loss.
Owned by Midland Heart and managed by Thomas Pocklington Trust, the accommodation comprises 64 apartments specifically designed for people with sight loss. There are various facilities on site and professionally trained care and support staff are available 24 hours a day. The scheme will enable people with sight loss to live full, active and independent lives.
Ernest Evans, a resident at Pocklington Place says: “The new Pocklington Place offers great choice for people with sight loss. The building is first class and it’s a really friendly place – you can’t beat it!”
